Hansaring 87

The space-related objects were created for the Cologne architects Gruhl and Dörr and combine the most diverse aspects for recycling. Their uniqueness is due to the use of discarded objects and their site-specific installation. The new developments are installed in the common rooms and staircase of the student residence on the Hansaring in Cologne and include luminaires as well as free and applied objects that Michael Konstantin Wolke and Philipp Dreber jointly created. An installation of props and old glass accompanies the viewer through the entire staircase. At selected points, light bodies play with the narrow spatial situation and accentuate the staircase and corridor areas. Refurbished shopping trolleys offer storage space as newly created wardrobes. The type of hanging varies in size and form depending on the unique specimen, so that the objects react to the different requirements of the various common rooms. Hoses that extend from the socket to the dining table create room-related light objects in each of the common rooms in the student dormitory.

The Hangon wardrobe was nominated for the RecyclingDesignPrize.
